Hyper Light Breaker: How to Get Golden Rations

Author : Aria Update:Mar 19,2025

Quick Links

Hyper Light Breaker boasts a variety of resources, but Golden Rations stand out as the rarest and most crucial for significant upgrades. The game doesn't explicitly explain these resources, leaving players to discover their purpose and acquisition methods through gameplay. To streamline your progress, we've outlined the most reliable ways to obtain Golden Rations.

Where to Get Golden Rations

Currently, there are two primary methods for acquiring Golden Rations in the early access version: exploration and cycle resets. During your runs, keep an eye out for chest icons on the map. These chests often contain resources for upgrades or purchases, and some contain Golden Rations, indicated by their distinctive icon above the chest. Areas containing Prisms (marked by a golden diamond icon) frequently have nearby Golden Ration chests.

Alternatively, you can leverage cycle resets. A cycle represents a single Overgrowth instance, resetting when your revives (Rez count) reach zero. Upon depletion of your revives, you can choose to retry the map, losing some resources, or completely reset the cycle at the Cursed Outpost. Successful cycle resets reward you based on your performance; achieving a high enough rank grants Golden Rations.

What are Golden Rations For?

Golden Rations are essential for progression in Hyper Light Breaker. Primarily, they unlock permanent upgrades at your home base, enhancing your character's abilities or providing new vendor services.

Furthermore, Golden Rations unlock Sycoms—items defining your Breaker's stats and passive abilities, significantly impacting their playstyle. These are highly valuable assets.

Upon earning your first Golden Ration, prioritize the extra medkit upgrade from Pherus Bit. This significantly improves survivability, especially given the game's punishing combat mechanics.

Remember, while resources acquired during a run persist upon death, your equipped weapons, amps, and perks sustain damage, potentially leading to permanent loss.
