Evercade Super Pocket handhelds expand their retro gaming library with new Atari and Technos editions. These new models will offer officially licensed games from the respective platforms. Adding to the excitement, a limited edition of 2600 wood-grain Atari handhelds will also be released.
Game preservation remains a contentious issue, with passionate arguments on both sides. However, Evercade provides a legitimate and convenient alternative to exorbitant secondhand prices for classic games.
Following successful launches of Capcom and Taito editions, Evercade's Super Pocket handheld continues to expand its retro gaming offerings. The Atari and Technos editions, launching in October 2024, will feature curated selections of games from their respective catalogs.
A unique twist is the limited-run (2600 units) of wood-grain Atari Super Pocket consoles, soon to be available for purchase.
A Retro Revival
With the handheld market largely dominated by retro emulation, the arrival of officially licensed options is always welcome. Evercade has built a positive reputation, though the limited-edition 2600 consoles might be considered a marketing ploy by some, unless, of course, they genuinely feature real wood grain.
The Evercade Super Pocket's compatibility with existing Evercade cartridges offers portable access to a vast retro game library. Players can seamlessly switch between handheld and console play.
The new Super Pocket editions are slated for an October 2024 release.
