The Best ‘Marvel Snap’ Meta Decks – September 2024 Edition

TouchArcade Rating:

Let's jump right in this month, making up for last month's slightly delayed guide. A new month and season are here, and I'm ready to share deck-building strategies to keep you competitive in Marvel Snap (Free). Honestly, the game felt pretty balanced last month. However, a new season brings new cards, so expect some significant shifts. Let's predict the meta, shall we? Remember: today's winning deck might be obsolete tomorrow. These guides offer insight, but they aren't the only strategy you should use.

Note: Most decks listed are currently top-tier and assume a complete card collection. I'll highlight five top Marvel Snap decks, plus a couple of more accessible, fun options.

Most Young Avengers cards haven't drastically impacted the meta. Kate Bishop remains strong, and Marvel Boy benefits 1-Cost Kazoo decks, but others haven't caused major disruptions. The newly released Amazing Spider-Season and its Activate ability, however, are game-changers. Next month's meta will be vastly different.

Kazar and Gilgamesh

Cards Included: Ant-Man, Nebula, Squirrel Girl, Dazzler, Kate Bishop, Marvel Boy, Caeira, Shanna, Kazar, Blue Marvel, Gilgamesh, Mockingbird

Surprisingly, Kazoo is a top deck thanks to the Young Avengers. The core strategy remains familiar: deploy low-cost cards and buff them with Kazar and Blue Marvel. Marvel Boy adds extra buffs, and Gilgamesh greatly benefits. Kate Bishop provides additional card placement options and reduces Mockingbird's cost. A strong, high-performing deck, but its long-term viability remains to be seen.

Silver Surfer Remains Unstoppable, Part II

Cards Included: Nova, Forge, Cassandra Nova, Brood, Silver Surfer, Killmonger, Hope Summers, Nocturne, Sebastian Shaw, Copycat, Absorbing Man, Gwenpool

Silver Surfer continues to dominate, with minor adjustments for balance changes and new cards. The classic Nova/Killmonger combo boosts cards. Forge enhances Brood's clones. Gwenpool buffs hand cards; Shaw gains power with buffs; Hope provides extra Energy; Cassandra Nova steals opponent's power; and Surfer/Absorbing Man secures victory. Copycat replaces Red Guardian as a versatile tool.

Spectrum and Man-Thing Ongoing

Cards Included: Wasp, Ant-Man, Howard the Duck, Armor, US Agent, Lizard, Captain America, Cosmo, Luke Cage, Ms. Marvel, Man-Thing, Spectrum

The Ongoing archetype also reigns supreme. This deck features cards with Ongoing abilities, allowing Spectrum to provide a powerful final-turn buff. The Luke Cage/Man-Thing synergy is excellent, with Luke protecting cards from US Agent. The deck's ease of play is a plus, and Cosmo's utility is likely to increase.

Discard Dracula

Cards Included: Blade, Morbius, The Collector, Swarm, Colleen Wing, Moon Knight, Corvus Glaive, Lady Sif, Dracula, Proxima Midnight, MODOK, Apocalypse

A classic Apocalypse-style Discard deck, with Moon Knight's buff making it even more effective. Morbius and Dracula are key cards; a successful strategy leaves only Apocalypse in hand for a final, powerful Dracula transformation. The Collector can also be unexpectedly effective.

Destroy

Cards Included: Deadpool, Niko Minoru, X-23, Carnage, Wolverine, Killmonger, Deathlok, Attuma, Nimrod, Knull, Death

The Destroy deck remains strong, with Attuma's recent buff making it even more competitive. Focus on destroying Deadpool and Wolverine, gain extra energy with X-23, and finish with Nimrod or Knull. The absence of Arnim Zola reflects the increasing prevalence of counter-measures.

Here are a couple of fun decks for those with smaller collections or seeking variety:

Darkhawk's Return

Cards Included: The Hood, Spider-Ham, Korg, Niko Minoru, Cassandra Nova, Moon Knight, Rockslide, Viper, Proxima Midnight, Darkhawk, Blackbolt, Stature

A fun deck centered around Darkhawk. Korg and Rockslide add cards to the opponent's deck; Spider-Ham and Cassandra Nova offer disruption; and other cards facilitate discarding and reducing Stature's cost.

Budget Kazar

Cards Included: Ant-Man, Elektra, Ice Man, Nightcrawler, Armor, Mister Fantastic, Cosmo, Kazar, Namor, Blue Marvel, Klaw, Onslaught

A beginner-friendly Kazar deck. While not as consistently victorious as the top-tier version, it teaches the core combo mechanics. It features the Kazar/Blue Marvel synergy and Onslaught for added power.

This month's deck guide concludes here. With the new season and potential balance changes, October's meta will likely differ significantly. The Activate ability and Symbiote Spider-Man are major factors. It's interesting to see classic decks return to prominence, but this is unlikely to last. Until next time, happy snapping!
