The Campfire is a versatile block introduced in Minecraft version 1.14, primarily used for decoration but boasting a range of practical applications. Beyond its aesthetic appeal, it can be employed to damage mobs and players, create smoke signals for navigation, cook food, and even soothe bees. This guide will explore all the methods to extinguish a Campfire, enabling you to maximize its utility and impress your fellow gamers with your in-depth game knowledge.

How To Put Out A Fire In Minecraft

There are three effective ways to extinguish a fire in Minecraft:

  • Water Bucket: You can douse the flames by waterlogging the Campfire. Simply fill a water bucket and pour it onto the same block as the Campfire.
  • Splash Water Potion: Another option is to use a Splash Water Potion by tossing it onto the fire. This method, while effective, can be costly early in the game due to the need for gunpowder and glass.
  • Shovel: The simplest and most budget-friendly method is using a shovel. Equip any shovel, even a wooden one, and right-click (or press the left trigger on consoles) on the Campfire to put out the fire.

How To Get A Campfire In Minecraft

Now that you're familiar with extinguishing a Campfire, let's look at how to acquire one. You can obtain a Campfire through the following methods:

  • Natural Generation: Campfires can be found in Taiga and Snowy Taiga villages, as well as in camps within Ancient Cities. To collect a naturally placed Campfire, you'll need a tool enchanted with Silk Touch. Without it, breaking the Campfire will yield only two coal in the Java version and four coal in the Bedrock version.
  • Crafting: Crafting a Campfire is straightforward, requiring basic materials like sticks, wood, and either charcoal or soul sand. The choice of charcoal or soul sand will determine whether you craft a regular or soul fire Campfire.
  • Trading: You can trade with an apprentice fisherman to acquire a Campfire, costing five emeralds in the Bedrock version and two emeralds in the Java version.
