Assassin's Creed Shadows Delayed to March 20, 2025
Ubisoft has announced another delay for the highly anticipated Assassin's Creed Shadows, pushing its release date back to March 20, 2025. Initially slated for a February 14, 2025 release, this marks a five-week postponement from the previously announced date. The publisher cites the need to further refine and polish the game based on fan feedback as the reason for the delay.
The game's development has faced challenges. A previous three-month delay, from November 15, 2024 to February 14, 2025, was attributed to concerns regarding historical and cultural accuracy. This latest delay, however, directly addresses player feedback, reflecting Ubisoft's commitment to a high-quality, immersive experience. Vice President Executive Producer Marc-Alexis Coté emphasized the ongoing dialogue between players and developers in shaping the final product. Both delays provide additional time for refinement and polishing.
Release Date: March 20, 2025
Following the September delay, Ubisoft offered pre-order refunds and free access to the first expansion as compensation. While no similar compensation has been announced for this latest delay, the shorter timeframe may mitigate potential player dissatisfaction.
The delay might also be connected to Ubisoft's internal investigation into its development practices, launched to improve player-centricity. This initiative aims to address recent disappointing sales figures and record losses during the 2023 fiscal year. Incorporating fan feedback into Assassin's Creed Shadows aligns with this broader effort to enhance game quality and player satisfaction.
