Exciting news! Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones has just joined the Nintendo Switch Online game collection.
Initially launched for the Game Boy Advance in 2004, Western audiences had to wait until 2005 to experience this acclaimed title. The game follows twins Eirika and Ephraim, heirs to Renais' throne, as they battle to reclaim their kingdom and unravel the mystery behind their trusted ally's betrayal.
For many players, this marks their first chance to experience The Sacred Stones—not only is it celebrating its 20th anniversary, but it was only the second Fire Emblem title localized outside Japan and the final GBA installment in the series.
We gave Fire Emblem: The Sacred Stones an 8.5/10 back in 2005, praising it as "what Advance Wars 2 was to its predecessor—an excellent refinement that builds upon Fire Emblem's established GBA gameplay with a fresh, standalone narrative."
Nintendo Switch Online is Nintendo's premium subscription service offering multiplayer connectivity and access to classic titles from NES, SNES, Game Boy, Nintendo 64, and (soon with the Nintendo Switch 2) upcoming GameCube classics. A 7-day free trial is available.
Speaking of Nintendo's next console: While Nintendo Switch 2 was initially slated for June 5, 2025 at $449.99, US pre-orders faced delays due to tariff impacts on financial markets. Revised plans confirm pre-orders will open April 24 at the original $449.99 price point.
Prospective buyers can register interest through Nintendo for pre-order notifications. Priority access will be given to Nintendo Switch Online annual members with 50+ gameplay hours logged by April 2, 2025.
