High-end prebuilt PCs can be pricey, but savvy shoppers can still snag amazing deals that offer significant savings. Currently, Dell is slashing $1,000 off the Alienware Aurora R16 GeForce RTX 4090 gaming PC, bringing the price down to $3,699.99. With the cost of standalone GeForce RTX 4090 graphics cards on the rise, now hovering around $2,000 from reputable sellers, building your own PC might not be the cost-effective choice you think it is. Plus, opting for a prebuilt system like this comes with the added benefit of an all-inclusive warranty.

This Alienware Aurora R16 gaming PC packs a punch with an Intel Core i9-14900KF CPU, GeForce RTX 4090 GPU, 64GB of DDR5-5200MHz RAM, and a spacious 4TB NVMe SSD. The 14th gen Intel Core i9-14900KF is currently the top Intel gaming and productivity CPU available. Known for running hot, it's kept cool by a robust 240mm all-in-one liquid cooler. The system is powered by a reliable 1,000W 80PLUS Platinum power supply.
The RTX 4090 stands unrivaled as the most powerful GPU on the market. In his review, Chris Coke praises it, saying, "The RTX 4090 may be huge and expensive, but holy smokes if it doesn’t blow the competition out of the water... Until the rest of the pack can catch up, between its impressive hardware specs and its DLSS 3 AI wizardry, even the $1,599 price doesn’t seem unreasonable for the unrivaled frame rates that this card can crank out." With this GPU, you can run any game at 4K resolution with ultra settings and ray tracing enabled, delivering high frame rates even with the latest, most demanding titles like Black Myth: Wukong or Warhammer Space Marine 2. The RTX 4090 is also the go-to choice for AI applications, thanks to its 24GB of GDDR6X VRAM.
A note on RTX 5000 series GPUs
NVIDIA's upcoming RTX 5000 series GPUs are set to launch at the end of January. While the RTX 5090 will likely offer superior performance, it comes with a steep price tag of $2,000 for the Founder's Edition at launch, and availability could be limited. The RTX 5080 is expected to retail at $999, but again, stock might be an issue. We plan to benchmark these cards soon, but note they'll have less VRAM than the RTX 4090 (16GB vs 24GB) and may not dethrone it as the top performer.
A note on Alienware's newest "R16" desktop chassis
Alienware's 2024 R16 desktop PC design is 40% smaller than its predecessors. It features an efficient airflow system, drawing air through side intake vents and a 120mm front fan, with exhaust managed by a 120mm rear fan and two 120mm top fans. The 240mm radiator for the all-in-one liquid cooling system is mounted to the top fans. While some configurations omit liquid cooling, we generally recommend it, as Alienware's liquid cooling solution significantly outperforms their air cooling and justifies the additional cost. Note that Dell unveiled a new Area 51 chassis at CES 2025, but it closely resembles the R16 in appearance and design.
