Larian Studios has officially announced that the much-anticipated Patch 8 for *Baldur’s Gate 3* will launch on Tuesday, April 15. After being available in a stress test form for some time, this update is now ready for all players to enjoy next week.
Patch 8 introduces a plethora of new content to the critically acclaimed Dungeons & Dragons role-playing game. Among the highlights are 12 new subclasses that offer diverse playstyles and strategies. Additionally, players can look forward to new features such as photo mode, cross-play functionality, and split-screen support for Xbox Series S. For a detailed overview, check out the Baldur's Gate 3 Patch 8 patch notes.
Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 8 new subclasses: ---------------------------------------Bard - College of Glamour
As a College of Glamour Bard, you'll harness the power to both heal your allies and manipulate your enemies. With Mantle of Inspiration, you can grant your allies 5 temporary hit points, and if an enemy attacks while this is active, they'll be Charmed. Use Mantle of Majesty to command these Charmed enemies to flee, move closer, freeze, drop to the ground, or disarm themselves, giving you a tactical edge in battle.
Barbarian - Path of Giants
Choosing the Path of Giants grants you the strength of a giant, making it easier to hurl both allies and enemies. No need for potions; the Giant’s Rage passive boosts your size and strength, increasing damage from Throw attacks and enhancing your carry capacity.
Cleric - Death Domain
Embrace the dark arts as a Death Domain Cleric, wielding spells focused on necrotic damage and three new necromancy cantrips. Toll The Dead rings a bell of doom, dealing 1~8 damage that scales with prior damage. Additionally, you can now explode nearby corpses, damaging enemies in a unique homebrewed ability.
Druid - Circle of Stars
Circle of Stars Druids draw power from the cosmos, accessing Starry Forms that represent the Archer, Chalice, and Dragon. Each form caters to different strategies: the Archer deals radiant damage with astral arrows, the Chalice heals you and nearby allies, and the Dragon enhances your constitution rolls while dealing damage, offering a versatile toolkit for healers, fighters, and strategists.
Paladin - Oath of the Crown
Sworn to uphold the law, the Oath of the Crown Paladin can guide allies in battle with Righteous Clarity, taunt enemies strategically, and support your party with Divine Allegiance, absorbing damage and restoring health.
Fighter - Arcane Archer
The Arcane Archer blends magic and archery, offering unique skills and new shooting animations. Banish foes to the Feywild or unleash Psychic damage that may blind enemies until their next turn.
Monk - Drunken Master
The Drunken Master Monk can consume alcohol from your inventory or around the Sword Coast to recover Ki. Use Intoxicating Strike to share the bottle with enemies, boosting your Armour Class and hit chance against drunk targets. Sobering Realisation sobers up drunk foes, dealing physical and Psychic damage.
Ranger - Swarmkeeper
Swarmkeeper Rangers command three deadly swarms: Cloud of Jellyfish for lightning damage, Flurry of Moths for Psychic damage and potential blindness, and Legion of Bees for piercing damage with knockback. Each swarm also provides teleportation capabilities.
Rogue - Swashbuckler
The Swashbuckler Rogue introduces piratical actions like tossing sand to Blind enemies, flicking your weapon to Disarm them, and using Fancy Footwork to prevent opportunity attacks during melee combat.
Sorcerer - Shadow Magic
Shadow Magic Sorcerers thrive in darkness with Superior Darkvision and the ability to Shadow Walk between dim light or darkness. Summon the Hound of Ill Omen to harass foes and use Strength of the Grave to avoid being downed, perfect for Honour Mode runs.
Warlock - Hexblade
Hexblade Warlocks form a pact with a Shadowfell entity, gaining magical weapons to curse enemies. Raise the spirits of slain foes for ten turns to deal necrotic damage and heal yourself by ripping away their souls.
Wizard - Bladesinging
Bladesinging Wizards merge swordplay with spellcasting, featuring new spellcasting animations, a Bladesong ability for speed, agility, and focus, and a bonus to Constitution saving throws.
