Indie game developer Sander Frenken has revealed that his upcoming strategy game, Battledom, is currently undergoing alpha testing. This RTS-lite title serves as a spiritual successor to Frenken's successful 2020 release, Herodom. Developed over two years by Frenken, a part-time developer, Battledom represents a refinement of his original vision for Herodom.
Battledom features dynamic RTS battle mechanics, enabling players to freely maneuver units across the battlefield. Players directly target enemies and manually operate siege weapons for devastating attacks. Strategic depth is further enhanced through the use of various battlefield formations.
Players utilize in-game currency to recruit units, initially equipped with only basic weapons and no armor. However, extensive customization is available; players can equip units with a range of weapons and armor pieces, each impacting stats like attack power, range, accuracy, and defense.
These items aren't found through exploration; instead, players must craft them within their village. Resource gathering—wood, leather, coal, and more—is essential to crafting, requiring interaction with various village specialists like blacksmiths and magicians.
Frenken is widely recognized for Herodom, which holds a commendable 4.6-star rating on the App Store. Herodom offers over 55 collectible heroes, 150+ units and siege weapons, and historically-inspired battles. Progression unlocks new character customizations, farm animals, and crops.
Interested players can participate in the Battledom alpha test by downloading TestFlight on their iOS device. For updates and further details, follow Sander Frenken on X or Reddit, or explore his other games on the App Store.
