Beginner's Guide to Mastering Rune Slayer

Author : Finn Update:Apr 19,2025

After two failed launches and months of anticipation, *Rune Slayer* has finally arrived, and it's truly a spectacular experience. Whether you're new to MMORPGs or a seasoned veteran, diving into *Rune Slayer* can be daunting. Fear not, as we've crafted a comprehensive guide to help you kickstart your adventure in this thrilling world.

Rune Slayer Beginner Tips

Here are some essential tips we wish we had known from the start, which would have significantly smoothed our journey in *Rune Slayer*.

Do not randomly attack other players

When we first heard about *Rune Slayer*'s full-loot PvP system, we were concerned it would turn into a chaotic battlefield. However, our fears were mostly unfounded. **In *Rune Slayer*, you don't lose anything upon death**, whether it's from PvP or PvE encounters. You simply respawn and continue your adventure.

However, if you choose to engage in combat with other players, **you'll accumulate a bounty**. The more players you defeat, the higher your bounty becomes, and the more items you'll drop upon your own death. Essentially, to experience full-loot PvP, you'd need to attack others and risk being defeated yourself.

Our advice? **Avoid attacking other players** unless you have a compelling reason or a group of allies to back you up.

Craft Bags ASAP

You'll quickly realize that both your **bank and inventory space are quite limited**. With a cap of 50 items, your inventory can fill up surprisingly fast. To address this, the game allows you to **craft bags**. You can equip up to two bags simultaneously, and the first bag you can craft is the **Cotton Bag**.

To craft a Cotton Bag, **gather Cotton from north of Wayshire and Flax from the south**—be cautious in the south due to the presence of aggressive mobs. Each Cotton Bag provides an additional 10 slots, so prioritize crafting these as soon as possible.

Your pets don’t actually die

There's a common misconception that your tamed pets die when their health reaches zero. In reality, **when your pet "dies," it becomes unavailable for summoning for 5 minutes**. You can check the cooldown by holding **T**. Once the cooldown period ends, you can summon your pet back by holding **T** again.

Bonus Tip: To **quickly heal your pet**, simply store and unstore it at the stable master. You have one free slot, so make use of it.

Grab all the Quests (Yes, all of them)

*Rune Slayer* is brimming with quests, most of which are non-repeatable and quite formulaic, often resembling the "Kill 10 X" type common in MMORPGs. Given their sheer volume and similarity, it's easy to overlook or ignore them.

To manage this efficiently, **accept every quest you encounter**. Don't hesitate to grab everything from the Job Board as well. Completing multiple quests simultaneously is far more manageable than tackling them one by one. You might even find opportunities to complete multiple objectives in a single outing. We were surprised to discover we had completed three quests in one go upon returning to Wayshire.

Craft everything at least once (even things you don’t need)

While it's crucial to craft items you immediately need, don't hesitate to **experiment with crafting using spare materials**. Crafting items for the first time can unlock new and more powerful crafting recipes. For instance, smelting our first Iron Ore unlocked a range of new Iron Armor crafts. So, be adventurous with your crafting materials.

Join a Guild

*Rune Slayer* is designed to be solo-friendly, but as you delve deeper into the game, you'll encounter **more challenging enemies**. Many of these foes, especially those with significant health pools, are intended for group encounters. The easiest way to assemble a group is by **joining a guild**.

You can either announce your need for a guild in the general chat or seek one out on the official *Rune Slayer* Discord server. Having a guild can make tackling these tougher challenges much more manageable.

That wraps up our beginner's guide to *Rune Slayer*. Enjoy your journey in this captivating world, and if you haven't yet, be sure to check out the *Rune Slayer* Trello and Discord for more tips and community support.
