*Death Stranding 2: On the Beach* is set to arrive later this month, but for fans eager for more, Hideo Kojima made a special appearance at Summer Game Fest to unveil an exclusive new clip from the highly anticipated sequel.
The footage introduces two new characters: Lucy, portrayed by Alissa Jung, and Neil, played by Luca Marinelli. Neil works as a porter—just like Sam Porter Bridges—and shares a deeply emotional moment with Lucy. The connection between them appears to run deep, sparked by matching brands on their hands. Neil seems to remember Lucy from somewhere in their shared past, while Lucy reacts with visible distress over something unresolved.
Kojima also revealed that Neil’s role will carry a similar narrative weight and emotional depth as Mads Mikkelsen’s character did in the first *Death Stranding*. This hints at another complex and performance-driven story element woven into the game’s surreal world.
*Death Stranding 2* continues the journey of Fragile and Sam Bridges years after the events of the original open-world delivery adventure crafted by Hideo Kojima. In September, Kojima Productions released several gameplay clips showcasing some of the game's uniquely bizarre features—like its eccentric photo mode, dancing puppet figures, and a mysterious character portrayed by Mad Max director George Miller.
In one particularly striking scene, Norman Reedus' character is seen walking bare-chested through black tar-like goo to meet Tarman (played by George Miller), who is accompanied by a floating cat and a talking puppet filled with unsettling energy. Additional characters include Tomorrow (Elle Fanning) and Rainy (Shioli Kutsuna), further expanding the game’s enigmatic cast.
With its wildly imaginative design and emotionally rich storytelling, *Death Stranding 2: On the Beach* is scheduled for release on June 26, 2025, and will be available exclusively on PlayStation 5.
