As you enter the battle, you'll find yourself in a castle surrounded by a crimson flood. The Blade Phantom is a formidable opponent with a variety of attacks, each requiring precise timing to dodge or parry. Here are the key moves you'll encounter:
- A six-hit combo consisting of four punches and two kicks, with the second kick delayed.
- A three-hit combo with two punches followed by a downward kick.
- A four-hit combo starting with a right hook, followed by two kicks, and ending with a leaping kick smash.
- A three-hit combo featuring flashing punches and a grab that you must dodge.
In addition to these melee attacks, the Blade Phantom can summon various weapons:
- A giant hammer that causes damage and spawns red spikes.
- A spear for a quick throw and a teleporting smash.
- A blade for a swift six-hit combo.
It can also disappear and dash around the battlefield before striking. Mastering the timing of these attacks and finding openings to strike back is crucial. Attack during its recovery periods to drain its stamina, setting up opportunities for a Brutal Attack. Continue this strategy until you reduce its health to about half, triggering the transition to Phase 2.
Phase 2

The second phase begins with the Blade Phantom unleashing four claw attacks followed by a high-arching spear throw. Evade the area where the spear lands and prepare for a leaping swipe. This is followed by three greatsword slashes and a final hammer smash.
While the boss retains many of its previous attacks, new moves include:
- Spear thrusts and follow-ups.
- Swift dual-wielding attacks ranging from four to six hits.
- Increased teleportation frequency.
When wielding the greatsword, be alert for multiple slashes and the final Burst Attack, indicated by a red P-like symbol on the screen. Use the Counterattack (L1/LB + Circle/B) to parry this move effectively, which not only restores your stamina but also leaves the boss vulnerable to further attacks.
Continue to exploit openings when the Blade Phantom's stamina is low, but time your Brutal Attacks wisely to maximize damage. Upon defeating the boss, you'll earn 8,640 Lacrima, Soul Eater gear items, a Shieldsman’s Ring, and Netherworld Mineral for crafting.
