Digimon Story: Time Stranger Listing Leaks Before PlayStation Showcase

A new Digimon video game titled Digimon Story: Time Stranger has seemingly leaked via GameStop just ahead of [ttpp]tonight’s PlayStation State of Play presentation[ttpp].

[ttpp]Gematsu[ttpp] spotted and shared listings for this mysterious project earlier today, publishing store links that will seemingly allow interested players to pre-order copies for [ttpp]PlayStation 5[ttpp] and [ttpp]Xbox Series X[ttpp]. The GameStop pages come without any images or gameplay details related to the currently unannounced Digimon Story: Time Stranger, though it may not be long before we hear something more official.

The leak arrives just hours before Sony’s latest State of Play presentation kicks off. Although no information about what the show will include has been revealed, the company has teased plans to include 40 minutes of content. With ample room for reveals and the Digimon Story: Time Stranger pre-order listings popping up mere hours ago, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the digital monster series make an appearance of some kind.

The Digimon Story series has a rich history that long predates this potential new entry appearing on GameStop’s website. Longtime fans will recall Bandai Namco's video game spin-off, which earned its name with the original Digimon Story for the Nintendo DS back in the mid-2000s. A plethora of installments across various platforms have been released since then, with recent examples including 2015’s Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth and 2017’s Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hacker’s Memory. A [ttpp]Complete Edition[ttpp] bundled both Cyber Sleuth titles in 2019.

Past entries have transported players into the world of Digimon to befriend and collaborate with monsters in RPG gameplay, involving battles with others. However, aside from an announcement by franchise producer [ttpp]Kazumashu Habu teasing a new Story game in 2022[ttpp], players have been left without a brand-new installment for years. Releases like [ttpp]Digimon Survive[ttpp] have helped fill the gap in the interim, but it appears the wait for a true continuation may finally end if Digimon Story: Time Stranger officially emerges soon.
