The question on every Nintendo fan’s mind is how difficult it will be to get a Nintendo Switch 2 in the U.S., both at launch and throughout 2025. Fortunately, Nintendo of America President Doug Bowser has provided some clarity on the matter, stating that the company expects to have enough units available to meet consumer demand through the holiday season.
Speaking with IGN during an interview centered around the grand opening of the Nintendo San Francisco store, Bowser acknowledged the “strong” positive reception the Switch 2 has already received—even before its June 5 release date. Despite the high level of interest, he emphasized that Nintendo has a plan in place for a “continuous flow of product” throughout 2025.
“Mr. Furukawa last week announced that we'll have 15 million units in our forecast for Nintendo Switch 2 and 4.5 million units for Nintendo Switch during the fiscal year,” Bowser said. “That forecast was really driven by wanting to match what we accomplished with Nintendo Switch in the first 10 months of its release. As we look at our plans here in the U.S., we do believe we'll have production and supply that will allow us to meet consumer demand.”
This is promising news for those hoping to secure a Switch 2 this year. While preorders—launched on April 24—were met with overwhelming demand, Nintendo remains confident in its ability to fulfill orders. The console will remain at the previously announced price point of $449.99, despite earlier concerns about potential increases due to tariffs.
However, Nintendo has issued a note to customers who ordered through the My Nintendo Store, stating that delivery by the release date cannot be guaranteed due to the sheer volume of requests. That said, Bowser’s statements indicate that most who preorder should eventually receive their console.

Will the Nintendo Switch 2 Price Increase?
One of the other major concerns from fans has been whether Nintendo might raise the Switch 2’s price due to ongoing tariff pressures. When asked how firm the $450 price tag is, Bowser remained somewhat noncommittal but expressed confidence in maintaining affordability.
“We made a commitment by announcing the pricing of both the single SKU at $449 and then the bundled SKU with Mario Kart World at $499,” Bowser explained. “We really thought it was important that we established that price point, even after further tariffs were announced, to give consumers that comfort that they would be able to purchase at that price point. Obviously, it's still a very fluid situation and it's difficult to determine what may be happening in the upcoming months or weeks. But our commitment is to find ways within existing market conditions or changing market conditions to make our products, including Nintendo Switch 2 hardware, as obtainable as we possibly can.”
