Fortnite UI Overhaul Sparks Fan Outrage

Summary

  • Epic Games introduced a controversial quest UI redesign for Fortnite, which many fans dislike.
  • The new UI features quests in collapsible blocks and submenus, causing frustration among users.
  • While fans appreciate the new pickaxe options, many are concerned about the time-consuming nature of the UI changes.

Epic Games recently rolled out a significant update to Fortnite, bringing a host of new content and changes. However, the redesign of the quest user interface (UI) has not been well-received by the community. Following the conclusion of the holiday Winterfest event, which featured collaborations with celebrities like Shaq, Snoop Dogg, and Mariah Carey, Fortnite entered Chapter 6 Season 1. This season introduced a new map, a revamped movement system, and new game modes such as Ballistic, Fortnite OG, and LEGO Fortnite: Brick Life.

The January 14 update brought a plethora of new cosmetics and modifications, including a controversial redesign of the quest UI. Instead of a straightforward list, quests are now organized into large collapsible blocks, which many players find cumbersome due to the additional submenus. While some appreciate the cleaner look, the majority of fans are frustrated with the time it takes to navigate these menus, especially during matches where time is critical. Players have reported being eliminated prematurely while trying to locate quests, particularly during the new Godzilla quests.

Despite the backlash against the UI changes, Epic Games has received positive feedback for making most instruments from Fortnite Festival usable as pickaxes and back blings. This addition has been welcomed by players looking to customize their loadouts. Overall, while the UI changes have caused some discontent, the community remains largely optimistic about the direction of Fortnite and eagerly anticipates future updates.
