In *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, combat plays a crucial role, and having better weapons is essential. After the challenging prologue, Henry finds himself weaponless. Fortunately, you can secure the Dogwood Village Bow early and for free, giving you a significant advantage in ranged combat.

After parting ways with Hans, your next goal is to find a way into the wedding. You have two options: take a job with a blacksmith or a miller, and make yourself useful enough to earn an invitation. Even if you're not interested in the blacksmith job, the marker on your map will guide you straight to the Dogwood Village Bow. If you choose to work as a blacksmith to attend Semine's wedding, you'll also learn about obtaining the hermit's sword later on.
The blacksmith job is located in Tachov, north of Troskowitz, where the prologue ends and the game world opens up. Head west out of Troskowitz, and follow the path as it curves north. At a fork in the road, with a smaller path branching off to the west, take a right towards a cluster of trees. This spot is easy to miss as it blends in with the surrounding landscape. Tucked within these trees, you'll find a small training area.

Inside the cluster, you'll see a target with arrows sticking out of it. Collect these arrows for free ammunition, then head to the right side of the tree where the Dogwood Village Bow is leaning against the trunk. Additionally, you can grab some brew from the stump and pick mushrooms in the area. Once you've gathered what you need, you can proceed with your current quest.

Other Ways to Get the Dogwood Village Bow in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
While it's possible to buy the Dogwood Village Bow, it's not the most powerful ranged weapon available. You can purchase it from Huntsman's Son Vitek in Tachov, but it's not worth the expense when you're close to the free version. If you need a ranged option, it's better to go for the free bow. Vitek also sells other, more effective weapons, and you can earn money through alchemy by collecting herbs and brewing potions to sell.
Whether you opt for the free bow or work towards purchasing a different weapon, having a ranged combat option is invaluable, especially since you can't change difficulty settings. Combat in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2* remains similar to the first game, and melee combat may not suit everyone. Personally, I prefer relying on ranged weapons whenever possible.
If you decide to continue to Tachov to take up the blacksmith job, you can sleep and save after proving your ability to forge a sword. Alternatively, you can head to the miller to continue the main quest. With a ranged weapon in hand, combat becomes much more manageable in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*.
