Miller emphasized that Gunzilla Games is committed to maintaining Game Informer\\'s editorial independence, stating that the new owners \\\"insisted on the idea of Game Informer remaining an independent editorial outlet; they felt just as strongly as our team did that the only path forward was with an editorial group that made 100 percent of the decisions around what we cover and how we do so, without any influence from them or anyone else.\\\"

Now operating under a new entity, Game Informer Inc., the website is back with its over 30-year history intact after its brief shutdown last year. The team has been busy during the hiatus, preparing \\\"dozens\\\" of new reviews for games released during their absence, along with their Best of 2024 awards.

Fans of the print magazine will be pleased to know it will return as well, albeit at a later date. Miller shared that the team aims to make it \\\"bigger and better than it was before.\\\" In the coming weeks, Game Informer plans to introduce membership and subscription benefits, expand their video, streaming, and feature coverage, and broaden the \\\"range of experts and partnerships\\\" to enhance their content.

Game Informer Revived: Entire Team Returns Under Neill Blomkamp's Studio

Author : Jonathan Update:Apr 17,2025

Just over six months after its closure by GameStop in August 2024, Game Informer is making a triumphant return, with the entire team back in action. In a heartfelt 'Letter From the Editor,' Game Informer's Editor-In-Chief Matt Miller shared exciting news: Gunzilla Games has acquired the rights to Game Informer from GameStop and is set to revitalize not just the editorial team, but "production and beyond."

For those who may not know, Gunzilla Games is the creative force behind the free-to-play extraction battle royale game, Off the Grid, currently in Early Access. They are also the developers of GunZ, a "Layer-1 blockchain ecosystem" that supports community-driven economies in AAA games, including Off the Grid. Adding to the excitement, Neill Blomkamp, the director behind films like District 9 and Chappie, serves as Gunzilla's chief creative officer and co-founder.

Miller emphasized that Gunzilla Games is committed to maintaining Game Informer's editorial independence, stating that the new owners "insisted on the idea of Game Informer remaining an independent editorial outlet; they felt just as strongly as our team did that the only path forward was with an editorial group that made 100 percent of the decisions around what we cover and how we do so, without any influence from them or anyone else."
