Godzilla vs. Spider-Man Pits Peter Parker Against Japan's Greatest Monster

Imagine Godzilla, King of the Monsters, stomping through the Marvel Universe! That's the premise of Marvel's new series of one-shot crossover specials, and IGN has an exclusive reveal: Godzilla vs. Spider-Man #1.

Following Godzilla vs. Fantastic Four #1 and Godzilla vs. Hulk #1, this issue throws us back to a specific era. Set shortly after 1984's Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars, we find Peter Parker, still reeling from his time on Battleworld and newly bonded with the alien symbiote. He'll need every bit of his enhanced strength to face the ultimate challenge: Godzilla!

Godzilla vs. Spider-Man #1 is written by Joe Kelly (the upcoming Amazing Spider-Man relaunch!), illustrated by Nick Bradshaw (Wolverine and the X-Men), and features cover art by Bradshaw, Lee Garbett, and Greg Land.

"The moment I heard about a '80s-set Godzilla/Spidey crossover, I practically jumped across the table to claim it," Kelly told IGN. "This book is pure fun, a chance to unleash the chaos of that era while celebrating two iconic characters. Nick Bradshaw perfectly captures the absurdity and the vibe, giving Godzilla and Spidey (in his… ahem… black suit) the gravitas they deserve. It's a love letter delivered with an earth-shattering roar!"

While DC recently released Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong (with a sequel on the way), focusing on the MonsterVerse versions, Marvel's series features the classic Toho Godzilla. This announcement also follows the reveal of IDW's Godzilla vs. Los Angeles #1, a charity anthology.
