Gotham Knights on Nintendo Switch 2?

A game developer's resume hints at a potential surprise: Gotham Knights could be coming to the Nintendo Switch 2. Let's dive into the details of this intriguing possibility.

Gotham Knights: Nintendo Switch 2 Bound?

A Resume Reveals a Clue

Gotham Knights on Nintendo Switch 2?

On January 5th, 2025, YouTuber Doctre81 ignited speculation. Their findings? A game developer's resume listed work on Gotham Knights for two yet-to-be-released platforms. This developer, employed by QLOC from 2018 to 2023, also cited projects like Mortal Kombat 11 and Tales of Vesperia on their resume. The inclusion of Gotham Knights, specifically earmarked for unreleased consoles, is what caught everyone's attention.

One platform might be the original Nintendo Switch; the game received an ESRB rating for it previously. However, its performance struggles on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S cast doubt on a Switch port. The second unreleased platform strongly suggests the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.

Remember, Warner Bros. Games and Nintendo haven't confirmed anything, so treat this as speculation. But with the Switch 2 being the only major unreleased console currently anticipated, the possibility is certainly exciting.

A Past ESRB Rating and its Disappearance

Released in October 2022 for PS5, Windows, and Xbox Series X, Gotham Knights was briefly rumored for the original Switch after an ESRB rating appeared. Hopes were high for a Nintendo Direct reveal. However, the game never materialized, and the ESRB rating was subsequently removed.

While the original Switch port never happened, this past ESRB rating, coupled with the recent YouTube report, adds fuel to the fire regarding a potential Switch 2 release.

The Switch 2: Backwards Compatibility and the Official Announcement

Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa tweeted on May 7, 2024, promising further Switch 2 details "within this fiscal year." With Nintendo's fiscal year ending in March 2025, the official announcement is imminent.

A subsequent tweet confirmed the Switch 2's backward compatibility with the original Switch, supporting "Nintendo Switch software" and "Nintendo Switch Online." Whether physical cartridges will also be compatible remains unclear.
