A Record-Breaking Unboxing Livestream
The Pokémon Company International shattered the Guinness World Record for the longest unboxing livestream on November 26, 2024. This marathon event celebrated the launch of Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks, the newest Pokémon TCG expansion.
The livestream, hosted on Pokémon's Twitch channel, featured well-known internet personalities including Joe Merrick (Serebii), PokeGirl Ranch, and Mayplaystv. This trio opened over 1,500 booster packs and other Pokémon products, accumulating over 20,000 cards, according to the official Pokémon press release.
Peter Murphy, Senior Director of Marketing at The Pokémon Company International, expressed his pride in the accomplishment: “It’s been an incredible 24 hours of pack opening, and we’re thrilled to have achieved such an ambitious GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS title alongside an amazing team of content creators.”
The event may be over, but the celebrations continue! The Pokémon press release promises further giveaways on participating content creators' channels within the next two weeks. The cards collected will be organized and donated to charities, including Barnardo’s in the UK, before the holidays.
Pokémon TCG: Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks Launch
Released on November 8, 2024, Scarlet & Violet - Surging Sparks transports players to the Terarium, the key location in Pokémon SV's The Indigo Disk: DLC Part 2. This expansion introduces Stellar Tera Pokémon ex, such as Archaludon ex, known for its powerful Metal Defender ability.
Iconic Dragon-type Pokémon like Palkia, Dialga, Eternatus, Alolan Exeggutor ex, and Tatsugiri ex also feature prominently. The expansion includes illustration rare and special illustration rare cards, including Alolan Dugtrio and Feebas, showcasing tranquil ocean scenes. New Tera Pokémon ex like Pallossand ex and Flygon ex add excitement to TCG decks.
The new expansion is also available digitally via the Pokémon TCG Live app, offering in-game bonuses for collecting and battling with the latest Stellar Tera Pokémon ex.
