"Happy Game: Epic Games' Free Weekly Release"

Author : Chloe Update:May 27,2025

The Epic Games Store for mobile has announced its free release of the week, and this time it's the intriguing Happy Game by developer Amanita Design. Despite its cheerful title, Happy Game plunges players into a far-from-happy experience, offering a free download that's sure to captivate those who love a good scare.

In Happy Game, you step into the shoes of a young boy trapped in a cycle of night terrors. The game unfolds through a psychedelic nightmare, where you navigate a gory, chaotic world. Amanita Design, known for their quirky puzzlers like Chuchel, takes a dark turn with this title, transforming their signature style into something much more sinister.

Players will explore three distinct nightmares, each filled with bizarre and unsettling puzzles. The game's environments may appear sweet and saccharine at first glance, but they conceal deeply disturbing elements. Adding to the eerie atmosphere is the haunting soundtrack by the Czech band DVA, which is bound to keep you on edge.

ytHappy happy joy joyI was genuinely surprised to learn that Amanita Design, the team behind the relatively family-friendly Chuchel, created Happy Game. Their shift to a more mature, horror-themed game is a bold move that pays off in creating a unique and unsettling experience.

If you're unsure about diving into Happy Game, take a look at our review from 2023. Our reviewer, Will, gave it a solid four stars, commending its chilling atmosphere and effective horror elements.

Even if Happy Game isn't your cup of tea, the mobile gaming scene has seen a variety of new releases this week. Check out our list of the top five new mobile games to try, updated every Thursday, covering a range of genres from puzzles to action-packed adventures.
