In response to fervent fan feedback, League of Legends (LoL) is bringing back the beloved Hextech Chests. Dive into this article to discover what's on the horizon for LoL and how these updates will enhance your gaming experience.
League of Legends Back Tracks on Their Unpopular Changes
Hextech Chests Are Coming Back
Riot Games announced the return of Hextech Chests in a developer update on their website dated February 27, 2025, complemented by a detailed video on their YouTube channel. Acknowledging the community's dissatisfaction, Riot stated, "Recently, we’ve made a number of changes that didn’t hit the mark for everyone. We’ve been listening to your feedback, and it’s clear that there are areas where we need to adjust."
Hextech Chests, a fan-favorite feature, were particularly missed. Riot admitted, "It’s clear that for many of you, Hextech Chests weren’t just a way to get stuff, they were an important part of making your time in League feel rewarding. We didn’t fully grasp how much this mattered to you, and that led us to make changes that missed the mark."
Starting with patch 25.05, players will once again be able to earn up to 10 Hextech Chests and keys per act. Eight of these chests will be available through the free pass, while the other two can be earned via the Honor system.
Exalted Morderkaiser Delayed and More Fan Feedback Changes
Riot Games also announced a delay for the upcoming Exalted Mordekaiser skin, as they aim to "take more time to make sure it better delivers on its core fantasy." This delay extends to the entire Exalted skin line, altering the original plan of releasing one per Act this year.
Responding to further fan feedback, LoL will replace one non-Prestige skin with 25 Mythic Essence, addressing concerns about the scarcity of Mythic Essence on the paid Pass and the frequency of champion releases for each seasonal theme.
To enhance accessibility, Riot is lowering the Blue Essence cost for all champions by 50% starting from patch 25.05, following discussions about blue essence and champion shards.
Additionally, Riot is reversing a previous decision to reduce the frequency of Clash events. The game will now return to a monthly Clash schedule, with March's event featuring ARURF and a regular Summoner's Rift Clash in April.
Blue Essence Emporium and Your Shop Returns
In response to numerous requests, LoL is bringing back Your Shop and the Blue Essence Emporium. Your Shop will make its first appearance of the year in patch 25.06, followed by the Emporium in patch 25.07.
Riot emphasized their commitment to continuous improvement, stating, "We know getting League to the right place isn’t about just one set of changes. It’s about continually refining and improving the game in ways that make it better. We think today’s updates are an important step, and we’ll keep tracking how these changes feel, talking with all of you about how things are landing, and making adjustments."
Riot Games' proactive response to fan feedback demonstrates their dedication to creating a game that resonates with their community. League of Legends remains available as a free-to-play title on PC. Stay updated with the latest LoL news by visiting our dedicated League of Legends page.
