Sony Unveils Sleek Midnight Black PlayStation 5 Accessories

Sony is adding a touch of darkness to the PlayStation 5 lineup with its new Midnight Black Collection. This stylish collection includes four premium accessories: the DualSense Edge wireless controller, PlayStation Portal handheld remote player, Pulse Elite wireless headset, and Pulse Explore wireless earbuds. All are draped in a sophisticated midnight black finish.

The collection boasts a premium price point, with the DualSense Edge controller, PlayStation Portal, and Pulse Explore earbuds each priced at $199.99. The Pulse Elite wireless headset is slightly more affordable at $149.99. While the price tag is higher than previous iterations (the original Pulse 3D headset was $99.99), the Elite model includes added features and a felt gray carrying case (shared with the earbuds).

Pre-orders for the Midnight Black Collection begin January 16th, 2025, at 10 AM ET, exclusively through direct.playstation.com. The full launch is slated for February 20th, 2025.

This announcement follows the excitement generated at CES 2025 and adds to the buzz surrounding a rumored PlayStation VR2 upgrade. The Midnight Black Collection offers a sophisticated aesthetic upgrade for existing PS5 owners, adding a sleek, dark alternative to the console's original white accessories.

The DualSense Edge controller in Midnight Black stands out as a modern update to the original Midnight Black DualSense controller released in 2021. It also includes its own dedicated black carrying case.

Following the successful launches of God of War and Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 themed controllers, a limited-edition Helldivers 2 DualSense controller is currently available for pre-order.
