Marvel has released a new trailer for the upcoming Disney+ series Ironheart, unveiling a magical Iron Man-style suit for the heroine Riri Williams.
The teaser also introduces several allies for Williams (played by Dominique Thorne), including her late friend Natalie (portrayed by This Is Us star Lyric Ross), whom the inventor resurrects as an AI hologram, and a character played by Solo: A Star Wars Story actor Alden Ehrenreich.
However, the trailer's most exciting reveal is Williams creating a new Iron Man suit that merges her technological brilliance with the kind of magic typically wielded by sorcerers like Wanda Maximoff and Doctor Strange. This development has reignited long-standing rumors that Ironheart may finally introduce the MCU's version of Mephisto.
If it feels like Ironheart has been a long time coming, that's because it has. Originally announced by Marvel in 2020 as a spin-off from the then-upcoming Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the series was filmed in 2022 and has been awaiting release ever since.
Although not part of the officially announced cast, multiple reports from Deadline in late 2022 suggested that Borat star Sacha Baron Cohen filmed a secret role for the series, believed to be the fan-favorite comic book villain Mephisto.
So far, Mephisto has remained under wraps—but the show's fusion of technology and magic has long hinted at more fantastical elements beneath its MIT setting. Earlier glimpses of Ironheart have focused on Williams' relationship with Parker "The Hood" Robbins (played by Hamilton's Anthony Ramos), another familiar Marvel Comics character who appears set to guide her into the world of magic.

Comic book fans will recognize The Hood as a villainous criminal who gains superpowers from a magical hood. Speculation suggests Robbins' relationship with Williams will deteriorate throughout the series, turning him from ally to adversary, possibly due to temptation by a greater magical force.
Who might this be? All signs point to Mephisto, a character long anticipated to appear in the MCU, dating back to the popular Disney+ series WandaVision. In the comics, The Hood obtains similar powers from Dormammu, the demonic entity seen in the first Doctor Strange film. However, Marvel's casting of Baron Cohen implies they may not be using that character—instead, Dormammu's role could be filled by another devilish antagonist.
Additionally, Mephisto's tendency to appear in his underpants would align well with the Borat star's comedic style.
Ironheart premieres with its first three episodes on Disney+ in just a few weeks, on June 24, 2025.
