Jack Quaid, known for his role in "The Boys," has expressed a keen interest in starring in a BioShock movie, citing the first-person shooter as one of his all-time favorite games. During a Reddit AMA to promote his new film, "Novocaine," Quaid highlighted the game's "rich lore" as a compelling reason for a TV or movie adaptation. He stated, "I would actually love to be in a live-action adaptation of BioShock - one of my favorite games of all time. I think there's such a rich lore to that game that could be explored in a TV or movie adaptation."
The feasibility of a BioShock movie remains uncertain. Last year, producer Roy Lee mentioned that the project had undergone a "reconfiguration" due to leadership changes at Netflix, aiming for a "more personal" film. This shift was prompted by lower budgets, according to Lee, who noted, "The new regime has lowered the budgets. So we’re doing a much smaller version. It’s going to be a more personal point of view, as opposed to a grander, big project." Despite these changes, details about the plot remain under wraps, and Francis Lawrence, known for directing "The Hunger Games," is still set to helm the project.
Quaid's comments on BioShock also drew attention to his striking resemblance to the video game character Max Payne, whose likeness is inspired by Remedy writer Sam Lake. Fans have noticed similarities between Quaid and Payne, especially in scenes from "Novocaine," leading to speculation about a potential Max Payne film. Quaid acknowledged the resemblance, saying, "I've seen people say that I look like Max Payne, and when I've looked at the box art, even I did a double-take. I love Rockstar's games, but unfortunately I've never played that one - it's next on the list, for sure."
Beyond BioShock, Quaid revealed his passion for FromSoftware games. In the same Reddit AMA, he discussed his enjoyment of challenging titles like Bloodborne, Sekiro, and Elden Ring, stating, "I'm a huge video game nerd. And lately I've been diving headfirst into the FromSoftware library. I beat Bloodborne, then I beat Sekiro, and now I'm going full boar into Elden Ring. Actually, the thing I use Reddit the most for is tips and tricks on beating Fromsoft's bosses. I love how challenging the games are - it took me a while to get into them, but now I'm obsessed."
