*AFK Journey* has established itself as a robust RPG, seamlessly playable on both mobile and PC devices. With an extensive roster of characters, it can be challenging to determine which ones to prioritize for your team. To assist you in making these crucial decisions, we've crafted this comprehensive AFK Journey character tier list.

AFK Journey Tier List

Before diving into the tier list, it's important to note that most characters in AFK Journey are viable for the majority of content. However, some shine brighter in the most challenging endgame scenarios. Our rankings are based on character versatility, overall performance across regular PvE content, Dream Realm, and PvP.

Here is the tier list, with further details on each tier provided below:

S-Tier Characters

With the introduction of Lily May, AFK Journey has seen its first must-pull character since Vala’s initial banner. Lily May significantly enhances your Wilder teams, delivering high damage and extensive utility as a rogue-type character. She excels at countering Eironn teams in PvP, pushing through AFK stages, and potentially replacing Korin or Marilee in your Dream Realm boss teams. She's a definite addition to your wishlist.

Thoran remains the top F2P tank, especially valuable if you're still working on Phraesto. While Phraesto is more of a luxury, Reinier is a priority support character for both PvE and PvP, particularly in Dream Realm and Arena. For other supports, Koko and Smokey and Meerky are essential, with the latter being versatile across all game modes. Odie is crucial for Dream Realm and all PvE content.

For PvP enthusiasts and F2P players, building Eironn alongside Damien and Arden forms one of the most formidable Arena teams. As of November 2024, Tasi joined the roster, bringing versatile crowd control to the Wilder faction, excelling in most game modes except Dream Realm, where Plague Creeper's addition might change her impact. Harak, a Hypogean/Celestial Warrior, gains strength as battles progress, making him a powerhouse with his Life Drain ability.

A-Tier Characters

In the A-Tier, Lyca and Vala stand out for their effective use of the Haste stat, crucial in AFK Journey for increasing attack and skill frequency, and boosting animation and movement speed. Lyca temporarily boosts party Haste, while Vala gains stacks of Haste with each marked enemy kill, fitting well into various team compositions, though Lyca may struggle in PvP.

If Thoran is out of reach, Antandra serves as a solid tank with taunt, shield, and crowd control abilities. Pairing Thoran and Cecia with Viperian can complete a strong Graveborn core, though Viperian's Energy-draining and AoE attacks make him less suitable for Dream Realm.

Alsa, introduced in May 2024, is a promising DPS mage, especially useful in the current PvP meta if you lack Carolina and have Eironn at Mythic+. She pairs well with Eironn, amplifying damage against control-affected enemies. Phraesto, added in June 2024, is a sturdy Hypogean/Celestial tank but lacks in damage output. Ludovic, introduced in August 2024, is a versatile healer that synergizes well with Talene and performs impressively in PvP.

Cecia, once a top-tier DPS, has been downgraded to A-tier due to shifts in the Dream Realm meta. Sonja, added in December 2024, enhances the Lightborne faction with strong damage output and utility, though she isn't a must-pull.

B-Tier Characters

B-Tier characters are suitable for filling roles but aren't worth investing Acorns in long-term. Valen and Brutus are solid early-game DPS choices, with Brutus' spinning AoE attack being particularly useful. Granny Dahnie is a decent tank if you can't access Thoran or Antandra, offering debuffs and heals.

Arden and Damian, while not effective in PvE, are meta mainstays for PvP when paired with Eironn, Carolina, and Thoran. Florabelle, introduced in April 2024, supports Cecia at Mythic+ but isn't essential. Soren, added in May 2024, is decent for PvP but falls short in Dream Realm and other PvE content. Korin has been downgraded to B-tier due to Dream Realm changes, with Odie now the preferred DPS for that mode.

C-Tier Characters

C-Tier characters are useful early on but quickly become outclassed past AFK level 100. Parisa, despite her powerful AoE attack and crowd control, should be replaced as soon as better options become available.
