Silent Hill f makes history as the first entry in the iconic horror series to receive an 18+ rating in Japan. As revealed at the start of its Japanese-language debut trailer, which premiered last night, the game is rated Mature for the U.S., PEGI 18 in Europe, and CERO:Z in Japan — a significant departure from previous entries.
While Silent Hill f remains in active development and ratings may still shift, it's notable that earlier titles like Silent Hill, Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill 3, and Silent Hill: The Room were all assigned a CERO:C rating — suitable for players aged 15 and older. Other games in the series developed outside of Japan also carried either CERO:C or CERO:D (ages 17+) classifications. Even the Silent Hill 2 Remake by Bloober Team received a CERO:C rating in Japan, despite being classified as mature (17+) in most Western territories.
