The Krusty Burger is a health inspector’s worst nightmare—and a fan’s dream come true. This iconic fast-food joint has given the world such legendary (and questionable) menu items as the Krusty Burger, the Ribwich, The Clogger, and even the infamous Steamed Ham, as Principal Skinner would say. Now, it’s getting the LEGO treatment in a highly detailed set that brings the chaotic charm of Springfield to life.
The set includes seven minifigures: Krusty the Clown, Sideshow Bob, Homer Simpson, Officer Lou, and other fan-favorite characters, each capturing the show’s signature humor and style. You can purchase it for $209.99 starting June 4, with LEGO Insiders getting early access beginning June 1. Want in early? You can sign up for free here.

To dive deeper into the making of this exciting release, we spoke with Ann Healy, the Senior Model Designer behind the set. At 39, Healy has spent the past six years shaping some of LEGO’s most beloved creations. Here’s what she had to say—lightly edited for clarity—about bringing LEGO The Simpsons: Krusty Burger to life, marking the first new LEGO Simpsons set in nearly a decade.
What other LEGO sets have you worked on over the past six years?
Healy: I spent three years contributing to the LEGO Friends line. One of my personal highlights was working on The Sanderson Sisters’ Cottage from Hocus Pocus, a project close to my heart that took years to develop.
More recently, I’ve been part of the LEGO Icons team. Last year, I designed the McLaren MP4/4 & Ayrton Senna set and the Poinsettia LEGO Botanicals set, both of which were incredibly rewarding in their own ways.
Why bring back The Simpsons after such a long break?
Healy: Even after a decade without a new set, The Simpsons still holds a special place in fans’ hearts. Our research confirmed strong global loyalty to the brand. Reintroducing it with the Krusty Burger felt like a natural next step—offering a fresh setting and the chance to create brand-new LEGO minifigures that fans haven’t seen before.
Interestingly, the original Simpsons House and Kwik-E-Mart sets were among the last ones I bought before joining the LEGO Group. During my first week on the job, I stumbled upon an early prototype of the Krusty Burger sitting on a shelf. At the time, it was just a passion project—LEGO designers often build concepts in their free time, hoping they might one day become official sets. That moment gave me hope I might get to work on something like it someday.
Five years later, our Head of Marketing pulled that same prototype off the shelf and said, “It’s time to revisit The Simpsons.” I volunteered immediately—I’m a lifelong fan, and I couldn’t believe my luck.
Can you walk us through the design process? How many times did you rebuild the model?
Healy: I started by refining the old prototype, defining the layout and planning the build instructions. I worked digitally at first, then transitioned to physical builds, constantly switching between the two to test structural integrity and playability.
Throughout the process, I had regular design reviews with our Creative Lead and fellow model designers. We also held multiple check-ins with the IP partner, who provided feedback on both the model and minifigures. Internal reviews with our Model Governance and Building Experience teams ensured every step was solid—from construction flow to durability and overall play experience.
I didn’t count every rebuild, but I’d estimate I built the full model at least 20 times. The final build? That was when the first production boxes arrived from the factory—I put it together one last time for quality assurance.
Krusty Burger isn’t as established a location as Moe’s Tavern or the Kwik-E-Mart. Which episodes guided your design?
Healy: Disney was incredibly supportive, providing reference images and layout sketches whenever possible. I also watched countless episodes to translate the animated world into a functional, engaging LEGO playset.
The primary reference was Season 20, Episode 21, “Coming to Homerica,” which features the Mother Nature Burger—a direct inspiration for several elements in this set. The “Ribwich” from Season 14, Episode 12, “I’m Spelling as Fast as I Can,” also makes an appearance.
Other key episodes include:
- Season 6, Episode 15, “Homie the Clown” – Homer performs at a Krusty Burger
- Season 12, Episode 13, “Day of the Jackanapes” – Bart and Sideshow Bob visit the restaurant
- Season 10, Episode 1, “Lard of the Dance” – Homer sells grease from the kitchen
- Season 7, Episode 15, “Bart the Fink” – The IRS seizes the restaurant
- Season 19, Episode 1, “He Loves to Fly and He D’ohs” – Homer hides in the Krusty Zone ball pit
- Season 15, Episode 10, “Diatribe of a Mad Housewife” – Features the drive-thru sign
- Season 21, Episode 4, “Treehouse of Horror XX” – Krusty Burger appears in “Don’t Have a Cow, Mankind”
What’s your favorite hidden Easter egg in the set?
Healy: Above the drive-thru window, there’s a kitchen display screen showing an order for 700 burgers. It’s a nod to Season 5’s “Boy-Scoutz ‘n the Hood,” where Krusty opens a disastrous oil rig-themed Krusty Burger in the middle of the ocean.
What was the biggest challenge in designing the set?
Healy: The Krusty Burger sign was the most rewarding challenge. Capturing Krusty’s face accurately was critical—the IP partner provided detailed references, including hand-drawn doodles of Krusty himself. One of my colleagues, a former illustrator, used his artistic expertise to translate those expressions into LEGO form with precision.
Structurally, the sign was heavy and needed to stand securely on a single axle. Our Element Lead introduced a new component she was developing—an axle sleeve—that significantly improved stability. It was the perfect solution.
Is this a one-time release, or the start of more LEGO Simpsons sets?
Healy: I can’t comment on future products due to LEGO Group and partner policies. But as a huge Simpsons fan, I truly hope fans love this set—and that it opens the door to more Springfield adventures in brick form.
