Ever since the announcement of the upcoming DLC for Lies of P, titled Overture, fans have been buzzing with speculation about the mysteries it might unravel. However, at the recent Game Developers Conference, IGN discovered that one particular enigma—the game's jaw-dropping final cutscene—won't be addressed in the DLC.
For those yet to experience the conclusion of Lies of P, here's a spoiler-free summary: the game's end features a cutscene that hints at potential future directions for the Lies of P universe. This scene has sparked numerous fan theories about its implications and possible connections to upcoming content. However, Lies of P director Jiwon Choi has clarified that this cutscene is not related to the Overture DLC. He teased, "Please stay tuned for additional announcements in the future."
With Neowiz already confirming a full sequel to Lies of P, it's likely that this intriguing cutscene pertains to Lies of P 2. Yet, details about the sequel remain scarce, and Choi remained tight-lipped about any sequel-related hints during our conversation.
Choi emphasized Neowiz's commitment to quality, stating, "What I can certainly tell you is when we share such news or media and assets with you, you'll know for sure that we are ready to present it to you. And that follows very our strict focus on quality [amid] all the pressure that we talked about in the past. So that is the one promise that I can share with you, that when we actually share those contents with you and the news, we will be ready to share that with you."

The scene in question, which we discussed with Choi, is the "Dorothy scene." As detailed in our previous article, the final cutscene shows Paracelcus on a phone call, mentioning, "I will find her, for sure. Another key of ours: Dorothy." The scene then reveals the iconic striped sock legs and ruby slippers of Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz, suggesting that future Lies of P narratives might intertwine with other public domain "fairy tales." However, how and why this connection will be made remains a mystery, and it won't be explained in Overture.
SPOILERS END HERE.
Choi did offer some tantalizing hints about what players can expect from the Overture DLC. He advised fans to replay the base game to uncover clues scattered throughout, which hint at the expansion's content: "When you play through the base game again, you'll see many hints that we scattered throughout the whole experience," Choi explained. "A lot of hints and a lot of windows into the world, and you'll be able to actually see that and experience that in expansion…There are many things that I actually wanted to accomplish when we were working on the base game. It didn't get put into the base game, and all of that, at least key elements of that are going to be included in expansion."
He also noted that some fans are already on the right track, mentioning that he regularly reads online fan theories, some of which are "quite close."
Additional details about Overture include an estimated playtime of 15-20 hours for experienced players. The DLC will be accessible after reaching a "certain" chapter of the game and will be playable until the end. As previously announced, Overture is a prequel, with the main character being transported back in time to Krat just before its fall. Players can look forward to new locations, enemies, bosses, characters, and weapons, though Choi kept the specifics under wraps to maintain the surprise for the release.
