Lies of P DLC Eases Difficulty After Player Feedback

Author : Michael Update:Jan 12,2026

The Lies of P DLC has been updated to tone down enemy difficulty in New Game Plus while rebalancing stats for certain overworld monsters during initial playthroughs of Overture.

Game director Jiwon Choi initially maintained that Soulslikes like Lies of P shouldn't include difficulty settings, launching without such options. However, the team later reconsidered, stating: "We aimed to make the experience more accessible to broader audiences."

Community debates erupted over the DLC's "Legendary Stalker" difficulty setting, generating such polarized feedback that the official subreddit consolidated discussions into a megathread. This prompted developer Neowiz to admit certain challenges "didn't match our original design vision."

Patch 1.9.0.0, deployed June 20, implements combat refinements alongside critical fixes—including progression blockers when gifting beer to the Old Fisherman and cosmetic glitches with specific gear. The update also enables DLC access from Chapter 5 onward during subsequent playthroughs.

Below are comprehensive patch notes sourced directly from Steam:

Lies of P Version 1.9.0.0 Update

Critical Advisory

Unofficial modifications may cause game instability. Always update disc installations to the latest version before playing to prevent save corruption or permanent data loss. Verify Storage for missing items.

Key Adjustments

Review all in-game notifications thoroughly. Combat refinements include: Reduced enemy scaling in successive playthroughs. Rebalanced first-playthrough monster statistics for Lies of P: Overture.

Issue Resolutions

Addressed reward distribution errors including the "Azure Dragon Crescent Glaive" and "Winter Festival Peaked Hat." Missing items may appear in Storage if inventory was full. Fixed progression exploits outside intended pathways. Corrected physics anomalies during "Monad's Rose Sword" special attacks that sometimes launched players unexpectedly. Resolved audio interruptions when executing Blade Fable Arts during record playback at Hotel Krat. Eliminated persistent buff effects from "Solutionist's Amulet" after unequipping. Fixed visual inconsistencies with the "Flamberge" Legion Arm when equipped with "Blazing Death's Hunting Apparel." Miscellaneous fixes addressing UI elements, localization, enemy behaviors, and other minor bugs.

Separately, Neowiz announced Lies of P surpassed 3 million lifetime sales.

The surprise-released Overture DLC debuted during Summer Game Fest, expanding the game with fresh environments, adversaries, gear, and narrative content—alongside divisive new easy-mode options.

Our review scored both base game and DLC 8/10, praising Overture as "a substantial enhancement to an already outstanding title, even while adhering to familiar Soulslike conventions."
