Fans of Street Fighter 6 are thrilled as they return to the game to test out a new fighter, Mai Shiranui from the Fatal Fury series. Street Fighter 6, Capcom's successful fighting game, has sold an impressive 4.4 million copies as of December 31, 2024. Despite some fans feeling that the game has been light on content, the developers have recently delighted players with the introduction of a new character.
Mai Shiranui marks the third fighter added in the second season, and her arrival has significantly boosted the game's popularity. On the day of her release, the peak concurrent players on Steam soared to over 63,000, a stark increase from the usual 24-27 thousand peak players, marking the highest since May 2024.
Mai Shiranui is accessible to Battle Pass holders. In the World Tour mode, players can deepen their relationships with Mai, learn her unique moves, and then put them to the test in the Battle Hub. Additionally, a second costume inspired by her look from Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves has been added to her roster.
The Battle Hub also features a temporary guest, Professor Woshige, a renowned developer and legend in the fighting game community. Players can try out his character until March 10. Alongside Mai's introduction, the game has also rolled out new Master League ranks and rewards, enhancing the competitive experience.
Capcom has released a trailer showcasing Mai's impressive techniques, further exciting the Street Fighter 6 community.
