Nintendo has secretly included its infamous recurring Easter egg in the upcoming Switch 2 launch title Mario Kart World, dedicated fans have uncovered.
Totaka's Song, a hidden melody that has appeared in numerous Nintendo games throughout the years, makes another subtle appearance - this time audible on Mario Kart World's character selection screen.
To hear it, simply scroll to Yoshi on your character roster and let the green dinosaur continue dancing for an extended period. After lingering long enough, he'll begin vocalizing a recognizable tune - confirming yes, this is Yoshi performing Totaka's Song.
"I was casually browsing the Character Select screen when Mario suddenly started humming after sitting idle," shared Reddit user charizardtelephone. "It made me think - they could easily hide secret tunes like this. Wait. Hidden music? In a Nintendo game? With Yoshi? The possibility seemed almost too perfect."

The legendary Japanese composer Kazumi Totaka, who voices Yoshi and contributes to numerous Nintendo titles, has strategically placed variations of this melody in countless games he's worked on. From Super Smash Bros. to Wii Sports, Animal Crossing to Pikmin, Totaka's Song quietly appears somewhere within each experience.
"After waiting patiently, sure enough Yoshi started humming Totaka's Song just like he does when idle in Mario Kart 8," charizardtelephone explained regarding their discovery in Mario Kart World. "It's a fantastic Easter egg. I'm curious whether other players have noticed it yet."
In Japanese markets, Mario Kart World is currently surpassing the physical sales records set by Switch 1's launch title The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Bundled with the Switch console itself, the game represents Nintendo's first major success for its new hardware generation. The company's next big release, Donkey Kong Bananza, will receive detailed coverage in an upcoming Nintendo Direct presentation later this week.
