Marvel Television has reportedly paused development on three series: Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc. Sources at Deadline indicate these projects, while not officially greenlit, haven't been canceled outright but are currently on hold as Marvel shifts its strategic focus.
This strategic shift coincides with Marvel Studios' upcoming Disney+ series, Daredevil: Born Again. Brad Winderbaum, head of streaming and TV at Marvel Studios, recently revealed the company's exploration of reuniting the street-level heroes of The Defenders (Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist).
Marvel Studios is currently prioritizing the development of a larger number of shows, but as Winderbaum stated to Screen Rant last year, "We’re really being careful about what we choose to do next.”
The news regarding Nova is particularly unexpected, especially considering that just two months ago, former Criminal Minds showrunner Ed Bernero was announced as writer and showrunner, with Nova confirmed as a Disney+ series. For more details on Nova, see IGN's comprehensive article.
Strange Academy was anticipated to center around a magic school established by Doctor Strange, with Wong as its headmaster. Currently, there's no publicly available information about the premise of Terror, Inc.
Confirmed Marvel TV show release dates include: Daredevil: Born Again on March 4th, Ironheart on June 24th, and Wonder Man in December, all on Disney+. Following the release of Captain America: Brave New World, three MCU films are slated for release this year, including Thunderbolts in May and The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
