Marvel Rivals Rank Reset Reversed Amid Controversy

Marvel Rivals Rank Reset Mid-Season Proves Too Controversial, Prompting Reversal

Marvel Rivals has made a significant change to its player rank system following widespread fan backlash. The game's developers have reversed their earlier decision to implement mid-season rank resets, responding directly to community feedback. This adjustment aims to enhance the gaming experience and maintain player engagement.

Dev Talk 11 Updates on Seasonal Rank Adjustments

In a recent update shared via the official Marvel Rivals Twitter (X) account, the developers announced that they are backtracking on the mid-season rank reset plan outlined in Dev Talk 10. Initially, the plan was to reset player ranks every 45 days, dropping players down four divisions. This proposal was met with strong opposition from the community, who felt it was demotivating, particularly for those striving to advance through the ranks.

Responding to this feedback, the latest Dev Talk 11 confirmed that there will be no mid-season rank reset. Players will now retain their scores and ranks achieved by the end of the first half of the season. However, the traditional end-of-season reset will still occur, with players dropping down six divisions at that time.

Human Torch, The Thing, And Other Updates Still On The Way

Despite the reversal on the mid-season rank reset, Marvel Rivals is moving forward with other planned updates. The addition of new heroes, Human Torch and The Thing, remains on schedule, increasing the roster to 39 heroes. NetEase Games has committed to introducing two new characters per season, which spans three months.

Rewards for players achieving Gold rank and above will stay the same, with those reaching this level receiving a free Invisible Woman costume. Players ranked Grandmaster and above will continue to earn Crests of Honor. At the end of the season, new rewards will be available, including another free costume for Gold rank players and additional Crests of Honor for those at Grandmaster rank and above.

While balance adjustments are expected post mid-season update, specific details have not yet been released.

Marvel Rivals Community Support

The swift response from Marvel Rivals to the community's concerns highlights their commitment to player satisfaction. Within hours of the initial announcement in Dev Talk 10, the developers issued Dev Talk 11, addressing the backlash directly.

Marvel Rivals emphasized their dedication to improving the game, stating, "We strive to make Marvel Rivals the best game it can be, and the community is the driving force behind this mission! [...] Your engagement and support mean the world to us, and we're excited to continue this journey together!"

The upcoming mid-season update for Marvel Rivals is scheduled for February 21, 2025. The game is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. For the latest updates and more information, visit our Marvel Rivals page.
