How to Get Elytra in Minecraft in Survival Mode
Preparing for Battle
Before you embark on your quest for Elytra, thorough preparation is key. Equip yourself with Diamond or Netherite armor, preferably enchanted for maximum protection. Arm yourself with an enchanted sword and bow; enchantments like Infinity or Power on the bow will be particularly useful for engaging the dragon from a distance.
Ensure you have ample arrows or a crossbow loaded with fireworks for effective combat. Stock up on Potions of Regeneration, Strength, and Slow Falling to bolster your health, enhance your damage output, and cushion your falls. Carry food, especially golden apples, for emergency healing, and blocks to help you reach the End Crystals. Activating the Portal to the End
To reach the End dimension, you'll need to activate the portal using 12 Eyes of Ender, which also serve to locate the Stronghold. Crafting an Eye of Ender requires Blaze Powder, derived from Blaze Rods dropped by Blaze mobs in Nether Fortresses, and Ender Pearls, which can be a bit trickier to obtain as they're dropped by Endermen.

Finding the Stronghold
With your Eyes of Ender in hand, locate the Stronghold by tossing them into the air. They'll fly towards the nearest Stronghold, guiding you to its location. Once you're close, dig down and brace yourself for the dark, labyrinthine corridors filled with hostile mobs like skeletons, creepers, and cave spiders.
Inside the Stronghold, search for the portal room, and insert the Eyes of Ender into the portal frame to activate it. Leap into the portal to be transported to the End dimension, ready for your battle with the Ender Dragon.

Battle with the Dragon
Upon entering the End, the battle with the Ender Dragon commences. Your first task is to destroy the End Crystals that regenerate the dragon's health. You can shoot them down with a bow or reach them manually. Once the crystals are destroyed, focus your attacks on the dragon, using your bow when it's airborne and your sword when it lands near the portal.

After defeating the dragon, an End Gateway portal will appear. Throw an Ender Pearl into it to teleport to the outer islands, where you'll find End Cities. Near these cities, you might spot a Ship, which is where the Elytra awaits. Beware of Shulkers guarding the Ship; take them out before venturing inside.
