Metal Slug: Awakening delivers a modern update to the beloved '90s franchise. Initially revealed in 2020 by TiMi Studios as Metal Slug Code: J, the game has seen several delays and name changes before its Southeast Asian release in late 2023. Now, it's finally ready for a worldwide launch.
For those unfamiliar, Metal Slug is a renowned Japanese run-and-gun series, debuting in 1996 from Nazca Corporation and evolving into a multimedia phenomenon. While previous mobile entries like Metal Slug Defense (2014), Metal Slug Attack (2016), and Metal Slug Commander (2020) exist, Awakening promises enhanced features and gameplay.
This new installment stays true to its roots with classic shooter mechanics, but boasts upgraded visuals and innovative gameplay elements. Rejoin your favorite Metal Slug characters in brand-new missions. Game modes include World Adventure, 3-player cooperative Team-up, and challenging Roguelike scenarios.
