Metro 2033's "Cursed" Mission: A Comprehensive Guide
Despite its age, Metro 2033 remains a fan favorite, especially since the release of the VR title, Metro Awakening. This guide focuses on the challenging "Cursed" mission, often frustrating players due to unclear objectives and confusing station layout. This mission begins after the anomaly event at Turgenevskaya Station (the game's version of the real-life, and book-named, station).
Finding the Bomb
After Khan takes a railcar to the next section, you'll find defenders near barricaded escalators. They'll explain that a bomb squad went missing while attempting to collapse a tunnel to stop nosalis attacks. Your task: locate and detonate the bomb. Expect constant nosalis attacks; retreat to the defenders for support if overwhelmed. The bomb is at the far end of the right-hand tunnel. Avoid the ghostly shadows directly ahead – they'll damage you. Once you have the bomb, either proceed to the adjacent tunnel or retreat if needed.
Destroying the Tunnel
To detonate, enter the left-hand tunnel (from the defenders' perspective). A cutscene will trigger, automatically planting and lighting the bomb. Escape immediately; the blast is lethal at close range. Alternatively, a grenade or pipe bomb in the same tunnel area will achieve the same result. Note: Nosalises will still infiltrate through other routes, so remain vigilant.
Destroying the Airlock
Even after destroying the tunnel, further work is needed. The defenders mentioned an airlock; to find it, climb the stairs to the right of the main platform, into the torchlit area. Ignore the nosalises. Interact with the support columns to place a pipe bomb; run immediately after lighting the fuse. Once both entrances are sealed, follow Khan to a shrine room, then through a floor panel to begin the "Armory" mission.
