"Michelle Yeoh Stars in Ark: Survival Ascended's Lost Colony, Prelude to Ark 2"

The highly anticipated dinosaur survival game, Ark 2, is back in the spotlight after fans speculated about potential delays or even cancellation. Developer Studio Wildcard has put those rumors to rest by unveiling a new expansion for Ark: Survival Ascended, the remake of the original Ark game, which sets the stage for the sequel.

The new expansion, titled Ark: Lost Colony, marks the first original content pack for Ark: Survival Ascended. The reveal trailer, a stunning collaboration with the renowned anime studio Mappa, known for hits like Jujutsu Kaisen, Attack on Titan, and Chainsaw Man, features voiceover work by Michelle Yeoh. Yeoh reprises her role as Mei Yin from Ark: The Animated Series, adding a familiar touch to this exciting new chapter.

Studio Wildcard promises that *Ark: Lost Colony* will include numerous cinema-quality anime story sequences crafted by Mappa. Here’s the official description:

According to Studio Wildcard's press release, Ark: Lost Colony directly links the narratives of Ark’s Extinction and Genesis expansions, paving the way for the events of Ark 2.

Ark 2, powered by Unreal Engine 5, is the sequel to the blockbuster Ark: Survival Evolved. Initially revealed with a surprise cameo by Vin Diesel at The Game Awards 2020, the game was originally slated for a 2022 release. However, it faced multiple delays, first to 2023, and then to late 2024. It was announced as an Xbox Series X and S console exclusive, available day-one on Game Pass, as well as on PC via Steam and Windows.

Despite assurances from Studio Wildcard in December 2023 that *Ark 2* would meet its late 2024 release window, the game did not launch as expected, causing concern among fans. The recent announcement of *Ark: Lost Colony* in early 2025 provides reassurance that *Ark 2* is still in development, although no new release date was provided.

For Ark: Lost Colony, more concrete details are available. Pre-orders will open in June 2025, with immediate access to exclusive preview gameplay content. The full release is scheduled for November 2025, and Ark: Lost Colony will be available for $29.99 on Xbox Series X and S, PlayStation 5, and PC.
