Marvel enthusiasts have been eagerly awaiting news on the return of Moon Knight to the MCU, and while a second season of the Disney+ show seems off the table, the character's future is far from over. According to Brad Winderbaum, head of Marvel Television, fans can look forward to seeing more of Oscar Isaac's Moon Knight, albeit not in the format they might have expected.
Since the release of Moon Knight in 2022, Marvel Television has shifted its strategy. Initially, the focus was on using TV shows to introduce characters who would later tie into future MCU projects. A prime example is Ms. Marvel, which brought Kamala Khan into the spotlight before her role in The Marvels. However, Winderbaum explained that the approach has evolved. "So I think Marvel Television has happened in waves, and I think Moon Knight happened in a wave of shows that were going to establish characters that would tie-in to the future," he said.
The new direction for Marvel Television is to produce shows that are released annually, much like traditional television series. This shift in priorities means that while a Moon Knight Season 2 is not on the immediate horizon, the character is slated to appear in other forms down the line. "And moving forward our priorities have shifted. We’re making shows as shows that can exist as annual releases, more like television. I would love to see a Moon Knight Season 2, but there are plans for Moon Knight down the road," Winderbaum added.

While Oscar Isaac has lent his voice to Moon Knight in the third and final season of the animated series Marvel's What If...?, there's no confirmed news yet on his return in live-action.
Looking ahead, the MCU's upcoming TV slate is packed with exciting releases. Fans can anticipate Daredevil: Born Again in March, Ironheart in June, Eyes of Wakanda in August, Marvel Zombies in October, and Wonder Man in December. However, last week, it was reported that Marvel Television had paused development on three shows: Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc. Despite these setbacks, Winderbaum shared that the company is exploring the possibility of bringing back the street-level heroes from Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist, collectively known as The Defenders.
