Nintendo recently took to their Twitter (X) account to announce that their interactive alarm clock, Alarmo, will be more widely available starting in March 2025. In just a couple of months, Alarmo will be accessible to a broader audience, hitting the shelves of major retailers like Target, Walmart, GameStop, and other Nintendo-approved stores worldwide.

This expanded release means that the previous requirement of a Nintendo Online membership to purchase Alarmo will be removed, making it available to everyone. Priced at $99.99 USD, Alarmo is set to be a hit among fans. While this news has been well-received, the gaming community continues to buzz with anticipation for any updates on the rumored Switch 2. However, Nintendo has kept details about their next console under wraps.

Nintendo Alarmo Sold Out A Day After its Announcement

The demand for Alarmo was evident right after its announcement on October 9, 2024. In Japan, the device sold out so quickly that Nintendo had to suspend sales on the My Nintendo Store and switch to a lottery system for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. Nintendo issued a statement apologizing for the inconvenience and promising to increase production to meet demand.

"We have received a large number of orders for the Nintendo Sound Clock Alarmo, which was released on October 9th, so we are currently suspending sales of the product on the My Nintendo Store. In response to this, we are currently preparing to change the sales method at My Nintendo Store to a lottery sale for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers, so please wait for a while. We apologize for the inconvenience this may cause to our customers. Furthermore, we will continue to produce the products in order to deliver them to as many customers as possible."

In New York City, Alarmo also sold out on the same day, but without a lottery system. The store assured customers that they would be notified once more stock was available.

Nintendo Alarmo Features

Alarmo, launched by Nintendo in 2024, is not just any alarm clock. It brings the world of Nintendo games into your morning routine with sound effects from popular titles like Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and Splatoon 3. Users can choose from 42 different scenes, with more to be added through free updates, including scenes from Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

When you set an alarm, a character from your chosen game appears on the screen. As the alarm sounds, the character wakes up and plays a gentle sound. After a few moments, a visitor arrives, and you can wave your hand or move to quiet the alarm. If you linger in bed, a more insistent visitor will appear, and the sound will grow louder until you get up. Thanks to its motion sensor, you can stop the alarm without touching the device.

Beyond its alarm function, Alarmo enhances your environment with hourly chimes and sleep sounds themed to your selected scene. It also tracks your sleep patterns, recording your time in bed and movement during sleep.

For those sharing a bed with others or pets, Nintendo recommends using Alarmo's Button Mode. Initially, a Nintendo Online membership was required to purchase Alarmo, but this restriction will be lifted with the expanded release in March 2025.
