Bethesda Confirms No Mod Support for Oblivion Remastered

Oblivion Remastered Official Mod Support Notably Absent Despite Original's Large Modding Community

In a surprising move, Bethesda has released The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered, showcasing a plethora of enhancements over the original. However, a notable omission is the lack of official mod support, which may disappoint many fans.

Bethesda's decision not to include mod support, as detailed on their official support page, lacks any specific reasoning. This is particularly striking given their history of robust support for modding, including the release of official Creation Kits for games like Fallout 4, Skyrim, and Starfield.

Despite this, the modding community remains undeterred. Fans have successfully adapted mods using the original game's Creation Kit. On platforms like Reddit, modders are actively discussing and sharing methods to continue modding the remastered version, which now utilizes Unreal Engine 5.

Oblivion Remastered on VR

Even without official mod support, the community's ingenuity shines through. Mere hours after its release, enthusiasts began experimenting with Oblivion Remastered on VR using the UEVR mod tool. This tool enables games to be experienced in virtual reality.

YouTuber LunchAndVR recently shared a video on their channel, showcasing early tests of Oblivion Remastered in VR. The gameplay, running smoothly at 70 fps on medium settings with DLSS enabled, was achieved using a setup featuring a GeForce RTX 4090, Intel Core i9-13900, and 64GB of RAM. These initial tests suggest that with further optimization, Oblivion Remastered could offer a compelling VR experience.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered is now available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S (with availability on Xbox Game Pass), and PC. For the latest updates and more information on the game, be sure to check out our article below!
