Pokemon GO enthusiasts have a thrilling update to look forward to during the upcoming Fashion Week: Taken Over event. For the first time ever, Niantic is introducing the use of remote raid passes in Shadow Raids, a feature that has been highly requested by the community since Shadow Raids were added to the game in 2023. This exciting addition is set to enhance the gaming experience, allowing players to engage in Shadow Raids from the comfort of their homes.
The Fashion Week: Taken Over event is scheduled to kick off on Wednesday, January 15, at 12:00 a.m. and will run until Sunday, January 19, 2025, at 8:00 p.m. local time. During this period, trainers can participate in one-star, three-star, and five-star Shadow Raids either in person or remotely. One of the major draws of these Shadow Raids is the opportunity to catch Pokemon with higher IV stats, making it a prime time for players to bolster their collections with some of the strongest Pokemon available.
Pokemon GO Temporarily Introducing Remote Raid Passes for Shadow Raids
The highlight of the event will be the Shadow Ho-Oh Raid day on January 19, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time. During this raid day, players will not only be able to use remote raid passes but also have a boosted chance to catch the elusive shiny shadow Ho-Oh. Additionally, trainers can teach their Shadow Ho-Oh the powerful charged attack, Sacred Fire, and use a Charged TM to replace the move Frustration on their Shadow Pokemon.
The introduction of remote raid passes in Shadow Raids is a significant development for Pokemon GO, as it addresses the community's desire for more flexible raid participation. However, this feature will only be available during the Fashion Week: Taken Over event. Once the event concludes, players will no longer be able to use remote raid passes for Shadow Raids.
It remains to be seen whether Niantic will make this feature a permanent part of Pokemon GO. The developers have faced criticism in the past regarding the need for in-person gatherings for Dynamax and Gigantamax battles, which require a large number of trainers to tackle the tougher monsters. The introduction of remote raid passes for Shadow Raids could be a step towards addressing these concerns and enhancing player accessibility and enjoyment.
