Pokémon Fossil Museum Heads to US Next Year

The Pokémon Company has officially announced the Pokémon Fossil Museum's North American debut in May 2026.

For those unfamiliar, the Pokémon Fossil Museum is precisely what its name suggests. Following its successful run in Japan, this unique exhibition - which draws parallels between fictional Pokémon "fossils" and actual prehistoric fossils - will open at Chicago's Field Museum on May 22, 2026, marking its first international showing.

"Visitors will encounter colorful Pokémon models displayed alongside actual prehistoric specimens from the Field Museum's collections," the museum explained. "You'll see scientific replicas of famous discoveries like SUE the T. rex and the Chicago Archaeopteryx next to Fossil Pokémon including Tyrantrum and Archeops. How many similarities and differences can you spot, trainers?"

For fans unable to visit either Japan or Chicago, The Pokémon Company and Toyohashi Museum of Natural History offer a virtual tour option. Through this digital experience, enthusiasts can explore the entire collection of real-world and Pokémon fossils online, from Tyrannosaurus specimens to Tyrantrum displays.
