The trailer highlights Ratatan's unique blend of rhythm roguelike action, seamlessly integrating rhythm game elements with side-scrolling action. A standout feature is the online co-op mode, which supports up to 4 players, allowing for dynamic and cooperative gameplay. Players can command up to 100 characters in epic melee battles, adding depth and excitement to the experience.

Ratatan is crafted by Hiroyuki Kotani, the creator of Patapon, and features music by the original Patapon composer, Kemmei Adachi. Launched on Kickstarter in 2023, the project has successfully met its console launch stretch goal, ensuring its availability on various gaming platforms.

Closed Beta Begins on February 27, 2025

According to a recent update on their Kickstarter page, Ratatan is set to launch its closed beta on February 27, 2025. Kazuto Sakajiri, the producer of Ratatan, shared insights into the game's progress and upcoming milestones.

Sakajiri announced that Ratatan has surpassed 100,000 wishlists on Steam and received positive feedback on the Ratatan Original Soundtrack Demo. However, the game will not participate in the upcoming Steam Next Fest, as the team is focusing on perfecting the closed beta test. The team aims to deliver an enhanced demo version for the Steam Next Festival in June.

During the closed beta, players can expect to play through Stage 1 initially, with Stages 2 and 3 being added progressively over the month-long test period. Sakajiri also noted that details regarding the distribution of codes, start date, and time will be shared via Discord and X once finalized.

Ratatan is slated for release in 2025 across multiple platforms, including PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. While an exact release date has yet to be announced, anticipation continues to build for this promising title.
