Bloodmoon Island, shrouded in mystery, lies in the northern reaches of Reaper's Coast. This enigmatic location is isolated from the mainland by a veil of deadly Deathfog, with the only connecting bridge now in ruins. Reaching Bloodmoon Island is essential for deepening the main storyline and unlocking additional side quests, but the game offers little guidance on navigating past the Deathfog. Here's a detailed guide on how to access Bloodmoon Island and advance your journey in Divinity: Original Sin 2.
Spirit Vision Shows The Way
Originally linked to Reaper's Coast by a bridge, Bloodmoon Island became inaccessible after the bridge's destruction. Located northeast of Cloisterwood, near the residences of Jahan and Witch Alice, the remnants of this bridge are your first clue.
Upon reaching the bridge, you'll find the Driftwood Fields waypoint nearby. Activate Spirit Vision here to uncover the bridge's broken sections and navigate the perilous path. The bridge is segmented and some parts are trapped, but with the right tools and skills, crossing it becomes manageable:
- Gloves of Teleportation: Acquired early in the game, these gloves allow you to teleport without needing the skill. Use them to move each party member across the bridge, albeit tediously.
- Translocation Skills: Abilities like Phoenix Dive, Cloak and Dagger, and Tactical Retreat enable teleportation across the gaps. However, not all party members may possess these skills, which leads to our next method.
- Teleporter Pyramids: These artifacts allow warping between pyramids. Place one pyramid in a companion's inventory and have them use translocation skills to cross the bridge. Once on the other side, the rest of the party can warp to them.
- Fast Travel: If a party member with translocation skills reaches the other side and discovers the Bloodmoon Island waypoint, the rest of the party can fast travel there, bypassing the bridge entirely.
Take The Ferry Across The Deathfog
If you have Fane in your party, an undead character immune to Deathfog, you have an additional option. Northwest of Cloisterwood, an undead ferryman offers passage across the Deathfog to Bloodmoon Island. However, this is a deceptive offer; all but Fane will perish during the crossing. By having Fane take the ferry alone, he can safely reach the island, activate the waypoint, and allow the rest of the party to fast travel there.
Taking The Ferry Without Fane In The Party
For parties without Fane, using the ferry requires a strategic use of Teleporter Pyramids:
- Separate a party member with a pyramid and let them board the ferry. They will die upon reaching Bloodmoon Island.
- Use the second pyramid to teleport the rest of the party to the deceased member's location.
- Revive the fallen companion with a resurrection spell or scroll to continue your adventure.
Without Fane, crossing the bridge is generally the safest and fastest route to Bloodmoon Island.
It's crucial to avoid attacking the Undead Ferryman, as he can unleash a deadly Deathfog spell. If you decide to confront him, save your game first. Defeating him rewards you with a Soothing Cold skillbook, an ordinary belt, and 3,750 XP.
