After a long hiatus, Goichi "Suda51" Suda and Grasshopper Manufacture made a powerful return during last night's State of Play, unveiling a thrilling trailer for their upcoming ultra-violent sci-fi adventure, Romeo Is a Dead Man.
The violence is so central to the experience that Grasshopper highlights it as "the game's defining feature," offering players an arsenal of weapons to "deliver relentless waves of gory combat while experiencing unprecedented levels of visceral action."
"Right now, our team is pouring all their energy into finishing development. In the past, this stage would've meant sleeping bags in the office, but these days we prioritize proper rest," Suda51 explained.
"I'll always remember the chaotic late nights during our early years, even getting overtime warnings (true story). Finalizing a game feels like the night before a school festival, much like in Beautiful Dreamer. Wait—you don't know that film? Might be before your time... It's worth tracking down if you can."
Romeo Is a Dead Man is an ultra-violent sci-fi action game from Grasshopper Manufacture, starring FBI Space-Time agent Romeo Stargazer (a brilliant name) hunting intergalactic fugitives. Coming to PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S in 2026, though the vague release window has a clear reason:
"Isn't it obvious?" Suda51 teased, almost certainly referencing GTA 6. "That massive title got its release date, right? Nobody wants to compete—though imagine if we did... No, terrifying thought. See you later!"
Sony launched the summer gaming season strong with reveals including 007 First Light, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles, and a Silent Hill f release date—here's everything shown at PlayStation State of Play 2025.
