In 2020, a dedicated fan of Batman: Arkham Knight with schizophrenia reached out to Kevin Conroy, the iconic voice of Batman, through the Cameo service. Expecting a standard 30-second message, the fan was overwhelmed to receive over six minutes of heartfelt encouragement from Conroy. The actor, deeply moved by the fan's story of how the game's ending—where Batman overcomes his fears, paranoia, and hallucinations—mirrored his own battle with schizophrenia, went above and beyond to offer more than just a formal response.
The fan shared on Reddit how Conroy's video became a lifeline during some of his darkest moments, stating, "This video has saved me from suicide countless times. Hearing Batman say he believed in me was incredibly powerful... But as time went on, it became just as important that it was Kevin himself who believed in me."
Initially hesitant to share the video, the fan decided to publish it after learning that Conroy had a brother who also suffered from schizophrenia, hoping it would offer solace and inspiration to others facing similar struggles. He added, "If someone in his family asks me to delete this video, I will of course do so. But it has inspired me in my toughest moments, and maybe it will inspire someone else. Hang in there. Because Batman believes in you."
Tragically, Kevin Conroy passed away on November 10, 2022, at the age of 66. Yet, his legacy and the touching words he shared continue to inspire millions worldwide.
