Shadow of the Erdtree's NPCs Unveiled in Latest Elden Ring Teasers

Shadow of the Erdtree

Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC features some truly frightening NPCs. However, a recent datamine has unveiled the surprisingly unassuming character models hidden beneath their intimidating armor. While some models are relatively simple, others boast intricate details that beautifully complement their in-game lore.

The intricate lore of Elden Ring, a hallmark of the Soulsborne series, has been a major point of discussion among players, rivaled only by the game's difficulty. Much of this lore is subtly woven into the game's design, leaving players to piece together the narrative. Dataminers, however, are unearthing hidden depths. Following the revelation of the Divine Beast Dancing Lion boss's underlying model, a new video from YouTuber and dataminer Zullie the Witch exposes the unarmored appearances of several other Shadow of the Erdtree NPCs.

This video showcases the meticulous detail FromSoftware incorporated into these characters, even in aspects unseen by players. The raw models have captivated fans, with Moore's appearance, for example, meeting many players' expectations. Redmane Freyja's model, scarred by Scarlet Rot, perfectly reflects her in-game backstory, a detail appreciated by players. Interestingly, Tanith from Volcano Manor bears a striking resemblance to the Dancer of Ranah, a fitting connection given Tanith's past.

However, some unexpected details emerged. Hornsent, for instance, lacks the horns implied by their name, likely due to the need for a completely unique model. This omission has prompted fan discussion regarding the addition of horn customization options alongside the DLC's new hairstyles. The overall level of detail in these models has impressed Elden Ring fans, highlighting FromSoftware's dedication to world-building.
