"Sisu Director Unveils Rambo Origin Film"

Exciting news for fans of the iconic action hero—Rambo is making a comeback with a thrilling prequel project titled John Rambo, helmed by the acclaimed director of Sisu and Big Game, Jalmari Helander. According to Deadline, Millennium Media, the powerhouse behind hits like the Expendables and Has Fallen series, is set to launch this new installment at the Cannes market. This event, coinciding with the prestigious Cannes Film Festival, serves as a platform for showcasing upcoming films to potential investors and distribution partners.

Millennium Media, which also produced the 2008 Rambo and 2019's Rambo: Last Blood, is steering this new venture. The plot of John Rambo remains shrouded in mystery, but we do know it will delve into the Vietnam War era, serving as a prequel to the landmark 1982 film, First Blood. As of now, no casting decisions have been finalized. Notably, Sylvester Stallone, the original Rambo, is aware of the project but is not currently involved.

The screenplay for John Rambo is penned by the talented duo Rory Haines and Sohrab Noshirvani, known for their work on The Mauritanian and Black Adam. Production is slated to kick off in Thailand come October, promising a fresh take on the Rambo saga.

While a Rambo prequel might come as a surprise, Helander's recent success with the 2023 WWII action film Sisu—a high-octane adventure that reimagines John Wick as an elderly Finnish commando battling Nazis during the Lapland War—suggests he's more than capable of delivering a gripping narrative and intense action sequences.
