David Hayter, the iconic voice of Solid Snake and Big Boss, shared a New Year's greeting on Bluesky, highlighting the fortuitous timing of 2025 being the Year of the Snake. With a new Metal Gear game on the horizon, this could be a pivotal year for the legendary character. Hayter is set to reprise his role as Solid Snake in the upcoming Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater remake.

Konami themselves acknowledged this coincidence with a celebratory YouTube video featuring Taiko drummers and a calligraphy artist creating the kanji for "snake." The video culminated in a bold "SNAKE YEAR," underscoring the significance for both the zodiac and Solid Snake.

Since its May 2024 announcement, including a trailer and Tokyo Game Show demo, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater has remained relatively quiet. However, producer Noriaki Okamura recently told 4Gamer that delivering a high-quality, polished game is their top priority for 2025 – a significant challenge they're tackling head-on.

Launching sometime in 2025 for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater remakes the 2004 classic Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. Expect next-gen enhancements, including the return of Phantom Pain mechanics and new voice work from the original cast.
